The 2003 Gretsch 6131T Jet Firebird Red is one of the modern Japanese reissues with which Gretsch brought its most iconic models back to life.

The Firebird originally appeared in the mid-1950s as a more luxurious and striking variant within the Jet series, with its characteristic Firebird Red finish serving as an instantly recognizable calling card.

Built in the renowned Terada factory, known among enthusiasts for its exceptional build quality and eye for detail, this Jet Firebird represents the best of Japanese Gretsch production from that period. Today, these Japanese Gretsches are often regarded as some of the brand's most beloved reissues, offering a perfect balance between vintage appearance and modern reliability.

The Jet Firebird combines the compact feel of a solidbody with the resonant character for which Gretsch became famous. The chambered mahogany construction provides a lively, open response with plenty of sustain, while the FilterTron pickups deliver that typical Gretsch sound: clear and defined, yet with enough warmth and punch for rock, roots music, country, and blues.

This 6131T from 2003 is a true player, as its weathered appearance shows that the guitar has been used extensively on stage. Buckle wear can be found on the back of the body, and the lacquer on the edges is chipped in a few places. There are also signs of wear on the top, as well as on the neck and headstock. The bridge has been replaced with a roller bridge, but the guitar is otherwise original.

A well-played guitar with plenty of miles on the clock, but completely ready for much more!
