The beautiful Martin D18 David Crosby was built in 2002 in a limited edition of only 250 units, and this guitar is number 137 in that series.

Who can say that he produced singer/songwriter Joni Mitchell's first album, joined forces with Stephen Stills of Buffalo Springfield and Graham Nash of The Hollies to create Crosby, Stills and Nash, all after leaving the Byrds in 1967? Well, the only correct answer is David Crosby!

When Martin approached Crosby to make a signature guitar for him, he simply had to honor his old vintage D18. This was the first Martin he ever owned and which he continued to play right up to the early days of Crosby, Stills and Nash. This D18 was stolen while he was in rehab, and his bandmate Graham Nash personally retrieved the guitar after a confrontation with the thief.

For this guitar, Martin chose beautiful Quilted Mahogany back and sides, a sleek-grained Engelmann Spruce top, and a number of beautiful Abalone details such as his signature on the fretboard and Crosby’s own sailboat on the headstock. The tortoise binding and heel cap complete the guitar perfectly.

This 2002 D18 David Crosby ended up in the hands of the first owner via an American dealer, who has taken very good care of the guitar ever since. There are a few superficial dings on the top, along with light playing marks on the back of the body. The guitar is free of cracks and has a perfect neck angle due to proper humidification, making it completely ready for many years of playing enjoyment. A wonderfully playable dreadnought with a beautifully balanced sound!
